In this tutorial, Kaleena Miller, an expert in tap dancing, will guide you through the basics of leaps, hops, and jumps. These three moves are foundational in tap dance, each focusing on different aspects of weight shifting. A jump is performed on the balls of your feet and requires a slight bend in the knees. Unlike a jazz leap that aims for height and flexibility, a tap leap is primarily about transferring your weight from one foot to the other. A hop, meanwhile, is done on a single foot and should also be executed from the ball of the foot, starting with a slightly bent knee.
